Kelly Writer’s House The gathering place for writers and writing at the University of Pennsylvania, though they offer a stellar lineup of lunches, panels, open mics, author events, book clubs, writing groups, and more; all free and open to the public.  Go here

Apiary Magazine A Phildelphia literary magazine devoted to representing the diversity of writers and spoken word artists in our city.  Also features an excellent, and very comprehensive calendar of local literary events here.

Moonstone Arts Center/Robin’s Books A great small bookstore in center city Philadelphia that offers an excellent even calendar.  Visit them here

Painted Bride Quarterly: One of the country’s longest running literary magazines, and based out of Drexel University.  It is published quarterly online and annually in print, and routinely sponsors events at the Pen & Pencil club as well as special events.  Visit them here

Giovanni’s Room: Just named a Philadelphia historical site, GR is the east coast’s longest running gay LGBTQ bookstore.  They offering book clubs and events geared towards the LGBT community and allies.  Visit them here

Wooden Shoe Books: An anarchist bookstore on South Street, WSB offers chapbooks, local press titles, and a variety of socially conscious lit as well as readings by authors committed to social change.
